Mak Kovac, Kendall Skelly, Taylor Van, and Chris Markey represented CSU this year.

The students had to develop a country strategy for production of lithium batteries for various car models, taking into account risks, freight costs, import fees, and a host of other fixed and variable costs. CSU’s team competed against Western Michigan, Miami of Ohio, and Taiwan universities in the first round. Western Michigan won the pool and advanced to the finals. The students from San Paulo School of Business Administration in Brazil were the overall winner, which was exciting as it was their first year participating in the event.

This year’s competition featured four teams from foreign countries – the most ever! As has become the norm for CSU students at these events, other faculty members and executives from GM and their suppliers spoke highly of the CSU students’ professionalism and knowledge. Congratulations to the team members for their outstanding efforts and for representing CSU in such a positive and professional manner!

National Undergraduate Supply Chain and Operations

Four Supply Chain Students show off their 2nd place medals. Colorado State participated in the National Undergraduate Supply Chain and Operations case competition in Tempe, Arizona hosted by Arizona State from Nov. 8-11. This Oracle-sponsored event was highly competitive, featuring a field of the top 11 supply chain programs. The team was comprised of Doug Gaillard, Josh Tomlinson, Allysa Mota, and Jens Aaron.

By earning the highest scores in their flight, they moved on to the final round, ultimately finishing in second place (behind Marquette University, the overall winner). The presentation was highly rated, with the students earning silver medals and a cash prize of $2,000 courtesy of Oracle.

The team was coached by Zac Rogers, a recent graduate of Arizona State, who enjoyed seeing the CSU team take down his alma mater!
