About G.M.S. Werks

G.M.S. Wërks is a leading company of natural stones, centrally located in the heartland of America. We are a company who provides different types and designs of stones like honed marble, granite, quartz, travertine etc. according to the needs of customers.

Founded in 1924, by Isidoro Bortolotti, born in Maiano, Udine, Italy in 1897. After completing the third grade, which was typical of all children of humble laboring folk, he accompanied his uncle to Germany, at the age of nine years old, to learn the terrazzo trade. In 1914, he returned to Italy and served in the armed forces, was taken prisoner, and spent 13 months in the enemy's hands. In 1920, they honorably discharged and commended him.

After his discharge, he set out for America and settled in Omaha, Nebraska. Already skilled in terrazzo and mosaic work, he had no trouble finding a job. From 1920 thru 1923, he applied himself diligently to learn the language, the customs, and the American point of view. He continued to master all the details of his trade while in the employ of others.

Granite is one of the best choices for an outdoor area due to its strong durability and low maintenance. Weather isn’t a match for granite, as it handles well in all types of climates. Often with Outdoor countertops in your kitchen or grill areas, you will notice that things get messier than they would indoors. Granite can handle all kinds of food, drink and weather. Granite won’t lose its shine, etch or discolor due to spills. Just be sure to seal the granite to prevent stains.

However, there are lots of granite varieties that are dense enough that you don’t need to apply a sealer. If you don’t use a sealer and you do happen to stain the countertops, it can usually be removed or the natural elements will rid them over time. With regular cleaning, your granite countertops will look fabulous for years!
