Aotearoa Surf School is a New Zealand-based company that provides surfing lessons, surfboard lease, and equipment to people of all ages and experience levels. We are fully operational and bookable under the red traffic light system, which means we have a range of services to suit any need. Whether you want to start surfing from scratch, organize a team-building weekend away for your staff or give your children the experience of a lifetime at our summer camp, we can cater to your every need. All equipment is provided so you don't have to worry about a thing!

We have a range of services to suit all ages and experience levels with everything from locally based kids camps, after-school programs, and holiday programs to overseas surf retreats for adults. We are also the preferred choice for large organizations and corporate events.

A PASSIONATE TEAM

Aotearoa Surf School was founded in 2002 and was one of the founding surf schools in New Zealand. Aotearoa Surf is owned and operated by Che, a local surfer who has a devotion to all things related to the ocean. He has a passionate, experienced, and qualified team of instructors from the local area who pride themselves on giving everyone the best experience and memories possible.

IT’S NOT JUST SURFING, IT’S EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT

A lot of surf schools sell your basic ‘surf experience’. Instead of this, we aim to teach you how to surf by yourself. We give YOU the confidence and knowledge to be surfing on your own including ocean safety, understanding conditions, understanding your board, and how to read the waves, we EMPOWER you.

Our Slow Hatha Flow yoga retreat,  is a combination of traditional yoga poses, dynamic movement, and functional flow to help improve agility, strength, and balance to complement your surfing experience. All whilst connecting to your breath and body to encourage a sense of calm and centredness.  The classes are layered to cater to all levels.
